Collet Workholding Components Group Together to Form System Lexair Inc. provides stationary collet workholding components, based on a family of 18 different collet closer blocks, which can be used individually or grouped together to form a system. Double acting pneumatic or hydraulic models are available in fixed length and pull back versions. The company can custom design and build turnkey solutions for any workholding application. Vertical, horizontal and five-axis rotary application options include fixtures that are applica- tion designed for part machining, measuring and assembly operations; hoses and manual pallet hydraulic disconnect; 1 / 4 " to 6" part diameters; 1C, 3C, 5C, 16C, 3J, 22J, 35J, step collets, FlexC collets and ID mandrels; and support components such as manual or solenoid- operated control valves. :: Lexair Inc. 859-255-5001, Stand-Alone System Can Eliminate Crashes Marposs Corp.'s Brankamp CMS-02 stand- alone system for collision monitoring and crash damage mitigation in machine tools employs a ceramic strain sensor to detect irregularities in the production process by measuring elastic deformation in the range of 0.1 microns, and both slow and dynami- cally increasing forces that have damage potential. It then reacts in the range of 1 millisecond, sending a stop signal to E-Stop, helping to alleviate or even eliminate ma- chine crashes that can result in high repair costs and long downtimes. The system is a compact, single chan- nel unit. It has 16-bit resolution, 25-kHz sampling rate, three operation modes and three limits per mode, stop-event data recording and signal values log file. Visual- ization of the data, analysis and statistics, as well as the HMI, is realized by connecting an Ethernet cable to a Windows-based industrial PC unit or the newest IPC4 dedicated monitor. The system is said to be easy to install and can be retrofitted to existing machines. It does support several communication paths such as discrete I/Os, Profibus-DP and Profinet. Operators of all skill levels can benefit from it immediately and without having to attend complex training courses. :: Marposs Corp. 248-370-0404, PRODUCTS :: 41
