Mazak Appoints Northeast GM Mazak Corp. has named Jim Rutan as the general manager for the Northeast Region. Formerly the manager of the Mazak sales office in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Mr. Rutan will now help customers throughout the Northeast receive sales, service and ap- plications support in order to compete in a booming regional manufacturing market. As the general manager, Mr. Rutan is responsible for Mazak's sales and profit- ability across the Northeast by working alongside the service and applications managers to provide customers with technology backed by support and train- ing. The region is comprised of the eastern halves of New York and Pennsylvania as well as New England. Mr. Rutan will also manage the North- east Technology Center, one of Mazak's eight North American Technology Centers. :: Mazak Corp. 800-231-1456, :: Sunnen Acquires BTA Heller Sunnen Products Co. has acquired BTA Heller Inc., a U.S.-based manufacturer of deep hole tooling and systems for primary hole generation. This move aims to expand Sunnen's honing expertise to include tooling for initial hole creation and other complementary bore sizing and finishing processes. The company recently intro- duced the SHD series skiving and roller burnishing system with tooling supplied by BTA Heller and will retain the BTA Heller name as a wholly owned subsidiary. "BTA Heller is a natural fit for Sunnen. Our companies complement each other very well, and BTA Heller's reputation in the industry for deep hole drilling exper- tise is unsurpassed," says Chris Milten- berger, president and COO of Sunnen Products Co. "The transfer of knowledge between the two companies will cre- ate a unique value proposition for our customers. And, with this acquisition, no other deep hole/BTA company will have Sunnen's global presence for technical and post-sale support." :: Sunnen Products Co. 800-325-3670, :: Rothenberger Group Acquires Röhm Group Röhm Group has been acquired by Dr. Helmut Rothenberger Holding GmbH. The company's 1,400 employees join the Rothenberger Group's family of more than 100 companies, which include Rothenberger AG, Autania AG and Walter Werkzeuge GmbH, along with a workforce of more than 6,000. The Röhm family's fourth generation representative, Norbert Roos, says, "We are pleased to have found a dependable and competent buyer in the family-run Dr. Helmut Rothenberger Holding GmbH group of companies." He adds that it would be "a guarantee for further successful develop- ment and continuation of the Röhm Group." With almost two centuries of combined experience in manufacturing, the Röhm Group and Rothenberger Group are both geared for growth in 2018. Plans are un- derway to increase Röhm's staff and further secure its position as a clamping device and drill chuck manufacturer. :: Röhm Products of America 770-963-8440, :: Company Completes ISO 9001 Recertification Amada Miyachi America Inc. has completed the ISO 9001 recertification process for its quality management system. The ISO 9001 certification reflects the company's commit- ment to providing high quality, innovative products for customers. As part of the recertification process, each manufacturing process and operation was validated, best methods were determined for each, and then guidelines were developed for ensuring the process would remain consis- tent and repeatable. :: Amada Miyachi America Inc. 626-303-5676, Company Celebrates 35 Years in Business CNC Software Inc., developers of Master- cam CAD/CAM software, is celebrating 35 years in business. In 1983, two brothers, Mark and Jack Summers, came up with a concept for programming CNC machine tools. A third brother, Brian Summers, joined and together they developed a PC-based CAD/CAM software package that laid the foundation for what would be Mastercam. Since then, CNC Software has advanced dozens of technologies for those shops, including smart tool paths, hybrid machin- ing, mill-turn, multi-axis, its Dynamic Motion technology, as well as basic pack- ages for milling, turning, and wire EDM.
