High pH Cutting Fluids Resist Bacteria and Acid Booth 1045 Castrol will display its new cutting fluids platform to support the manufacturing of metal components that are formulated to main- tain pH at a constant level and are resistant to bacterial growth and acid attack. The fluids do not rely on the use of boron or formaldehyde- releasing agents or additional biocide and fungicide additive packs. The lubricating properties help prevent swarf buildup, assuring high-quality surface finish and low scrappage rates. Even at low concentrations, the cutting fluids can help to maintain machining performance and protect against corrosion and staining. By having more control of the pH, the reliance upon short-lived biocides to control bacteria is significantly reduced or eliminated, the company says. This translates into significant improvements for controlling manufacturing costs, increasing productivity, protect- ing the quality of end products and meeting HSSE (health, safety, security and environmental) requirements. :: Castrol Industrial 877-641-1600, castrol.com Hydraulic Drive Unit Conversions Booth 341 Core Powered provides servo-drive conversion units for Hydro- mat machine spindles. These are modular plug-and-play control systems that convert old hydraulic and NT units to fully program- able one- and two-axis CNCs. They can be transferred easily to other stations as required through the utility port. Any unit can be converted to a two-axis CNC unit without casting modifica- tions. Electric servodrives are designed to free up hydraulic system resources eliminating the need for hydraulic system upgrades. Ease of set up, capital cost reduction and setup flexibilty make this conversion a desireable upgrade for all pre-Epic Hydromats, the company says. :: Core Powered Inc. 905-362-9377, corepoweredinc.com Hybrid Swiss CNC Multitasking Lathe Booth 945 The Swistek RB42Y multitasking Swiss-type CNC lathe is designed for efficient machining of simple to complex parts smaller than 1 5/8". With a FANUC 32i control, eight axes (including two Y axes), almost 40 possible tool positions (up to 24 of which can be live tools), along with an assortment of other live tool options, this machine can make almost any part complete in one operation, ac- cording to the company. The CNC lathe also comes with two twin 10-hp spindles (hydraulic clamping main and sub) and built-in spindle chillers for optimal thermal stability. It is packaged with a chip conveyor, drain- able chip cart, parts conveyor, mist collector, MPG handwheel, and FANUC Alpha Series drives that set it up for chip-to-chip time of less than a second, in many cases. :: Swistek Machinery America 203-301-4848 Micro Drill Series Designed for Electronics Connector Applications Booth 1033 Hassay Savage / GMauvaisUSA introduces three new lines of micro drills designed specifically for the electronics connector industries. Made with an h5 tolerance, the 3200-series three-flute long reamers, the 3100-series short cross drills and the 1100-series half round gundrills are all made of solid carbide and available in a range of standard micro sizes. The 3200 series is designed for high-performance drilling and reaming in one operation. The 3100 series has a shorter flute length and excels in cross-hole applica- tions, leaving no burrs and making highly accurate cuts, says the company. Finally, the 1100 series uses a single-lip design to excel in softer materials, providing good chip evacuation and coolant flow. :: Hassay Savage Co., 800-247-2024, hassay-savage.com 52 PRODUCTION MACHINING :: APRIL 2017 PMTS 2017: SHOW COVERAGE
