VMC Features Large Work Envelope to Machine a Range of Parts The Genos M560-V VMC combines a high column design and CAT 40 Big-Plus spindle to cut large, complex parts. The large work envelope minimizes restrictions on workpieces, tool lengths and the rotary table. A rigid, thermally stable, double- column construction is designed to give this CNC machine the ability to withstand thermal deformation, resulting in improved machining performance. A 30-hp spindle with 146 foot-pounds of torque allows this machine to cut chal- lenging metals such as titanium and Inco- nel as well as stainless steel and aluminum. A separate automatic toolchanger door makes tool changing seamless without interrupting the machining process, the company says. The table moves only in Y, while the spindle moves in X and Z, enabling a small machine footprint, rapid feed rates, precise cutting and smooth surface finishes, the company says. Thermo-Friendly Concept, Okuma's thermal deformation compensation technology, is standard on this machine. Pretension ballscrews and bi-directional spindle cooling allow for better control of the machining process. Optional collision avoidance and machining navigation intel- ligent technologies are available. :: Okuma America Corp. 704-588-7000 okuma.com/americas Inserts Support Bearing Designs Iscar's engineers are capable of supporting any bearing design with advanced machining solutions that can ensure maximum perfor- mance, efficiency and precision, the company says. Most of the small to medium size bearing diameters are produced in mass pro- duction methods on multi-spindle machines or on single-spindle machines that are only able to perform one or two operations on the machined rings, and a few machines of this type are needed to complete an entire part. Iscar provides comprehensive solutions for a variety of these applications with efficient tools for parting, trepanning, grooving, profiling and turning operations. Many Iscar inserts are designed as multi-corner inserts, such as the Penta, and feature economic advantages because of their five cutting edges. These inserts are mostly used in part-off opera- tions; seal groove machining, raceway grooving, and so on. :: Iscar Metals Inc. 877-294-7227, iscarmetals.com Make Your CNC Swiss Sing with the Best Bar in the Business Boston Centerless offers more than just stainless steel.
