IMTS 2014 PRODUCTS VMC Provides High-Speed, Rigid Operation DMC Machinery Corporation, Booth S-8262 DMC America will introduce its FM 50V vertical machining center at the show, intended to meet the need for a fast, functional machine with high-speed processing controls. The machine sup- ports production machining with multiple workpiece positions or cases in which the tooling process requires the speed of linear ways, but the rigidity of boxed ways. Using the 40-taper Big Plus system, a 25-hp direct-drive spindle provides 15,000 rpm in the Y and Z axes. The VMC ofers a rapid traverse rate of 60 m/min. The chip conveyor, triple light stack and wash-down food coolant with 1,000-psi delivery ease machining. Additional features include lubricated ballscrews, roller guides, dual chip augers and fourth-axis capability. The VMC is suitable for use in the automotive, tool die/ mold, aerospace and medical industries, or applications requir- ing high-volume production, high-speed machining, tight surface fnishes or fast cycle times. :: DMC Machinery Corporation 847-741-7100 :: 69 CNC Lathe Supports Two Tools Working Simultaneously Okuma America Corporation, Booth S-8500 Okuma's LU4000 EX CNC lathe is equipped with two turrets to enable two tools to work simultaneously, promoting process fexibility as well as high metal removal rates. The lathe is the company's latest addition of four-axis turning in the 10" to 15" chuck class and is said to be well-suited for automotive applications. The turning center incorporates a 45-de- gree box bed with all-boxway construction, three-point bearing support for the spindle, crown gear turret coupling for both turrets, two power ranges and the Okuma Thinc- OSP control, designed to provide a long production life. The machine ofers M-Y mill- ing for the A turret as well as an of-center turning function. Additional features include a big-bore spindle, the company's Machin- ing Navi L-g, a live quill tailstock with mount number 5, a rapid override switch, a portable pulse handle and a touch setter. :: Okuma America Corporation 704-588-7000
