IMTS PRODUC TS 78 PRODUCTION MACHINING :: AUGUST 2018 Software Platform Updates Provide Improved Functionality Vero Software | East Building, Level 3, Booth 133114 Version 2018 R2 of the Visi software platform from Vero Software provides a module for reverse engineering, along with improve- ments for CAD and CAM processes. The platform is useful for the mold and die market. The reverse engineering modules enable loading of a points cloud and the relative mesh created by setting different options for refining and smoothing. The platform contains almost 250 new items, including updates to direct-modeling capabili- ties that provide additional editing for both solids and surfaces. The Edit Face module provides the ability to edit solid bodies by moving or pulling selected faces. Concentric faces can be auto- matically selected and edited as well. Enhancements to both Surface Extension and Fill Holes enables the user to work directly on a solid body's face and not just on the surfaces, which saves time. Toolpath Mirroring copies the current project, mirroring all its toolpath operations. This can be achieved on any two-axis, three- axis, 3+2-axis, four-axis or five-axis toolpath. Improved workplane management, improved face selection on solids and new contextual toolbars are additional features. Workplane management eases use as a workplane is automati- cally orientated as soon as the desired face of a solid is selected during any operation. Updates to the faces selection tool enables matching faces to be selected by providing specific conditions such as planar, cylindrical and fillet face types, along with radius condi- tion, orientation and colors. Spindles Transform Low-Speed Mills into High-Speed Machines NSK America Corp. | North Building, Level 3, Booth 237311 NSK America Corp. says its HES810 series of high-speed electric spindles can convert low speed CNC machines into high-speed machining centers. Features include precision ceramic bearings for high-speed performance, integral motor and spindle construction, speeds ranging from 20,000 to 80,000 rpm, a maximum output power of 350 W and spindle accuracy of less than 1 micron. Neutral-Odor Coolant Can Be Used with Various Materials Blaser Swisslube Inc. | West Building, Level 3 & Annex, Booth 431238 Designed with a neutral pH and good rinse behavior, Blaser Swiss- lube's Synergy 735 coolant is a water-miscible, oil-free metalwork- ing fluid that contributes to easy-to-clean surfaces. The coolant has a neutral odor, good skin compatibility and offers a clear view of the machining process, the company says. It can be used with a variety of materials including titanium and aluminum alloys, steel and stainless steel, copper alloys and composites. Turning, Tool Management Products Designed for Digitized Shops Sandvik Coromant Co. | North Building, Level 1, Booths 215104, 431510 Sandvik Coromant offers several turning and auxiliary digital machining products to help manufacturers improve cycle times, increase parts per run, decrease machine downtime and eliminate duplicate work and scrapping of expensive materials. Turning Reinvented includes the Y-Axis Parting product and the PrimeTurning solution. Designed to improve stability, the CoroCut QD part-off blade feeds in the Y direction to realign cutting forces and reduce noise levels. The top face of the insert is now placed parallel to the end of the blade, rotating the insert seat 90 degrees counterclockwise. The blade cuts into the workpiece with its front end, which roughly aligns the resultant vector of cutting forces with the longitudinal axis of the blade. PrimeTurning includes two CoroTurn Prime tools and the PrimeTurning code generator, which supplies optimized program- ming codes and techniques. CoroTurn Prime inserts have three edges per corner for longitudinal, facing and profiling operations, respectively. This construction distributes wear over a longer edge and not just the insert tip. It also moves heat away from the cut- ting zone, increasing insert life. Digital solutions include CoroPlus ToolGuide and CoroPlus ToolLibrary, which recommend and organize tools, respectively. CoroPlus Process Control includes CoroPlus Collision Detector, CoroPlus ToolGuard and CoroPlus Machine Health Inspector.
