IMTS PRODUC TS 66 PRODUCTION MACHINING :: AUGUST 2018 Compact Holders Speed Lathe Tool Changes Esys Tool Inc. | West Building, Level 3, Booth 432061 Designed as a fast, accurate and cost-effective system for lathe tooling changes, Tool Inc.'s Preci-Flex toolholders include a single base holder and multiple tooling adapters that use an ER collet pocket. According to the company, a short, compact design con- tributes to torque transmission and rigidity. This improves accu- racy and productivity. In addition, a conical and flat-face planar interface enables the use of either an adapter or an ER collet. Collets, end-mill holders, expand- ing collet chucks and shrink-fit tooling can be mounted on a single base holder. Available in a range of sizes, the toolholders provide repeatability within 5 microns. The system also reduces machine downtime and enables tooling adapters to be interchanged between fixed- and rotary-base holders to increase machining speed. Metrology Products Showcase Automation, Versatility The L.S. Starrett Co. | East Building, Level 3, Booths 135532, 215020 L.S. Starrett is displaying a variety of metrology products including automated vision technology, optical measurement systems, digital measuring tools and more. One of the new products, the HVR100 "Flip" digital video sys- tem can work upright vertically or on its side horizontally. One of these systems will be dem- onstrating a fully automated metrology solution in which a robot loads and unloads parts on the machine's workstage. Also shown will be the AVR300 automatic vision system that is designed for repetitive measurements and automatic comparison with CAD files. It features both zoom optics and interchangeable telecen- tric lenses for micron-level resolution and accurate field-of-view measurements. Other products on display include the model No. HE400, a compact bench-top optical comparator with a 16" screen, and two horizontal digital video comparators that combine vision and optical comparator technology. The products feature a custom- designed interchangeable lens mounting system, go/no-go digital overlay capability directly from part CAD files, and real-time video edge detection. In addition, the company's entry-level L1 computer-based force testing products are designed for produc- tion and quality control testing and are said to be easy to set up, operate and maintain. They perform a range of testing including load, limit and break testing and cyclic count testing. Multi-Function Tool Reduces Inventory, Setup Time Carmex Precision Tools, LLC | West Building, Level 3, Booth 431480 Carmex Precision Tools' Multi-Function Milling Tool (MMT) is useful for applications including spotting and drilling, side milling, cham- fering, slotting, grooving and engraving. Its carbide construction contributes to stability, wear resistance and quality surface finish. It is designed to reduce tool inventories, eliminate tool changes, minimize programming and setup times, and improve machines with limited tool stations. According to the company, it facilitates quality control and enables manufacturers to achieve more predictable results.
