PRODUCTS Collet Pad Jaws Enhance Wokholding Capabilities Dillon Manufacturing Inc.'s collet pad top jaw systems can convert through-hole chucks to hold small bar and tube stock. Collet pads can be changed quickly, and the jaws can be adapted to many styles of chucks, the company says. A collet pad top jaw system can increase a chuck's range of workholding capabilities, allowing more varied part geometries to be machined with the same jaw system. According to the company, full contact of grip- ping surfaces provides a more stable grip and allows heavier cuts, resulting in shorter cycle times. Changing over to collet pad jaws requires just a jaw change. Ma- chinists using collet pad jaws can maximize their chuck capabilities and investment by taking advantage of both chuck and collet pad work, including the ability to run material that is hex or square in shape, the company says. :: Dillon Manufacturing Inc. 800-428-1133, dillonmfg.com Grinder Maximizes Efficiency and Production Okuma America Corp.'s GA26W high speed, compact grinder is equipped with the intelligent OSP-P300G CNC control. Okuma's open architecture OSP-P control runs on a Windows-based plat- form and integrates the machine, motors, drives and encoders. The rigid foundation paired with Okuma's hydro- dynamic wheel spindle is said to enable heavy-duty grinding. The GA26W is equipped with standard chatter control function that automatically adjusts wheel speed. According to the company, key features of the grinder also include IGAP+ conversational programming, a large 610-mm (24") grinding wheel, a 50 mm tailstock quill stroke, a 7.5 kW wheel spindle motor, high feed rates, rigidity for grinding and a variety of loader patterns. :: Okuma America Corp. 704-588-7000, okuma.com Taps Handle a Range of Materials and Applications Emuge Corp.'s MultiTap line of high-performance taps are designed to cut carbon steel, steel alloys, stainless steel, aluminum, cast iron, copper, brass and bronze. The taps' geometric design as well as a special base material and surface treatment enables it to handle a range of materials and applications. This eliminates the need to stock numerous types of taps in the tool crib, the company says. According to the com- pany, the taps are designed to produce threads within both 2B and 3B classes of fit, removing guesswork from choosing the correct H-limits. They are comprised of premium high vanadium cobalt high speed steel (HSS-E) and nitrided with Emuge's Ne2 surface treat- ment or TiCN-coated for extended tool life. :: Emuge Corp. 800-323-3013, emuge.com • Highest Quality • Precision ground for consistent tolerances • Standard sizes in stock, or we can quote to your specifications • Stocked in 76PM, T15PM, M2, M42, plus 4140 for carbide tipping M42, plus 4140 for carbide tipping VISIT US AT WESTEC BOOTH # 1006 Call us for quantity discounts!
