The company says it is ideal for shops looking to increase production, since it can ma- chine larger parts faster. With bed size ranging from 10 to 35 ft. on the X axis and from 2 to 10 ft. on the Y axis, these machines are capable of handling a large variety of parts. A maximum torque of 368 foot-pounds and spindle speeds ranging to 6,000 rpm makes flexibility a key benefit, the company says. What makes the FlexDrill stand out as a machine center is its ability to work in what the company calls Pendulum Mode. This is said to enable 100 percent spindle uptime. The process lets the operator safely load/unload one side of the machine while the spindle is working on the other side. :: FlexArm 800-837-2503, flexarminc.com Compact Scanner for Tools as Small as 0.1 mm Booth 841 The BK Mikro TK7A/RL scanner is compact and fast, making it a good fit for small areas such as with Swiss machines, where space is at a premium and tool diameters are very small. Like all BK Mikro scanners, this model uses a servomotor, which allows for a controlled move- ment and accurate checking of tools as small as 0.1 mm in diameter. The A variant scanner is used to check one tool and the RL variant checks two tools by going right, then left during the same cycle. Applications include tool monitor- ing, part ejection/free space monitoring, object inspection, and position recognition on lathes, Swiss machines, mills and transfer machines. :: Techna-Tool Inc., 262-367-8665, techna-tool.com 76 PRODUCTION MACHINING :: APRIL 2017 PMTS 2017: SHOW COVERAGE
