Redesigned Turn-Mill Fits More Performance in Same Footprint Booth 400 Index will demonstrate its G200 turn-mill, a compact machine offering as much as 30 percent greater productivity than its predecessor in the same footprint. The redesign of the machine resulted in an increase of the maximum turning length to 660 mm, a higher-performance milling spindle and expanded live tool complement as well as the XPanel with Internet 4.0 readiness. The machine is said to offer flexibility and high-speed machin- ing of both barstock and chucked parts complete in one setup. Fluid-cooled main and counterspindles are designed identically and feature a bar capacity of 65 mm (chuck diameter maximum 165 mm). Their motorized spindles allow productive turning machining with a power of 31.5/32 kW (100/40 percent duty cycle), a torque of 125/170 Nm and a maximum speed of 6,000 rpm. The machine has three tool carriers, so tools can be assigned to almost any machining type on the main and counterspindles independently. :: Index Corp., 317-770-6300, indextraub.com Particle Analysis Provides Technical Cleanliness Verification of Parts Booth 924 Zeiss Particle Analysis systems offer dedicated solutions for qual- ity control in the field of technical cleanliness. According to the company, they provide reliable user-independent and reproduc- ible results. With a few mouse clicks, the user can enter project data, quickly scan the filter, and create and archive reports. Dual scan mode provides identification of particle type. Automated particle analysis can meet the present industry standards (such as ISO 16232, VDA19) or specific internal standards while providing increased throughput over manual methods with much improved reliability of data. The company also offers a non-contact 3D surface analysis and roughness measurement system (Smartproof 5) and an intelligent digital microscope (Smartzoom 5) for inspection and metrology. :: Carl Zeiss Microscopy LLC 800-233-2343, zeiss.com 10-Axis Swiss-Type Automatic Lathe Booth 633 Star CNC Machine Tool Corp.'s 10-axis SR-38B Swiss-type auto- matic lathe is especially useful for the machining of complex, large- diameter parts. With B-axis versatility and an eight-spindle back- working unit, the SR-38B is designed to accommodate complex parts production in one operation with the precision and accuracy required by quality critical applications in a variety of industries. Rigid construction design is said to easily handle barstock up to 1.500" in diameter. Built-in main- and subspindles and high tool post rigidity ensure accuracy while flexible overlap machining and simultaneously controlled X1 and X3 axes deliver high productivity. The company's motion control system optimizes machining opera- tions and significantly reduces idle machine time, the company says. :: Star CNC Machine Tool Corp. 516-484-0500 starcnc.com 56 PRODUCTION MACHINING :: APRIL 2017 PMTS 2017: SHOW COVERAGE
