44 PRODUCTION MACHINING :: APRIL 2017 New Substrate Increases Tool Life Turning Tough Materials of Small Diameters Booth 331 Horn USA's Supermini cutting tool's new substrate, coating and edge preparation is said to provide high-performance results in small diameters. The development is in response to demands from customers who work with materials that are difficult to machine and require greater throughput, the company says. In trials, the new substrates and coatings resulted in longer tool life. The EG35 grade has demonstrated as much as 60 percent longer tool life when turning cobalt chrome at 1,000 N/mm 2 . This grade enables the tool to machine diameters ranging from 0.2 to 6.8 mm (0.008" to 0.268") in tough materials while increasing return on invest- ment, the company says. :: Horn USA Inc., 888-818-4676, hornusa.com Screw Machine Clutch Booth 537 Logan's air threading clutches, Hi-Lo retrokits and XT controls are said to increase productivy on Acme, New Britain and Daven- port machines. Logan clutches enable screw machines to change speeds faster, providing a more consistent and accurate cycle time than conventional mechanical clutches, the company says. These clutches, when combined with XT controls, are said to simplify machine setup, enabling personnel to position tools closer to the workpiece and reduce dwell time through repeatable high- and low-speed clutch engagement. :: Logan Clutch Corp. 800-525-8824, loganclutch.com PMTS 2017: SHOW COVERAGE WROUGHT DRAWN ALLOYS– HIGHEST QUALITY Concast Metal Products has been successfully satisfying a broad range of applications and industries with our wrought drawn products.
